Hi All
Not much on car security.....
Anyone got any recommendations for car security ie: make/cost/fit at home...I have a GTI A-Reg 1983, campaign.
Would appreciate any info....

The best security in the world is an anti hijack device such as clifford black jaxx...if they don't know how/where to disarm it, they're not going anywhere.

i would get a steering wheel device in the mean time they are only abut ?50 for a good one, mine has an alarm but i still use the wheel lock as it provides a visible deterrant and another thing to put them off.

Depends how much you want to spend, but get a decent alarm with microwave sensors and immobiliser with a disclock type visible detterent over the steering wheel, the bar ones are useless and can be hammered off in seconds, but this is all rendered useless if someone breaks into your house and steals the keys which seems to be how a lot of cars are nicked these days so if you want to be totaly safe you need a tracker device on there too so that it can be located if pinched. If you have all this there's very little else you can do, but it is about how much you want to pay as there must be nearly a grands worth (if not more) of security mentioned here.?

the anti-hijack may cost about ?200 but the blackjaxx comes with a keypad code I believe...and even if they nick the keys, if they don't know the code, it's going nowhere. ?Other one's can be a bit more sophisticated...but generally the same idea. ?Best thing I ever did

a big fat chain & pad lock is the only thing i use for security and its always proved a worthy deterrent!!

As Gibby said, it will come down to how much you want to spend.
Personally, I will always spend what I can afford, plus a bit more - if your car represents a theft risk, the cost and inconvenience of a break/theft outweighs your initial outlay.
Looking at that link I would personally be very sceptical. On the basis that most Cat 1 alarms are ?250+ an alarm for a bullseye is likely to be a bit pony.

Hi, had a meta cat 1 alarm and imob fitted to my mk1. had remote locking fitted too! delocked the doors.
cost ?435 and thats with the central locking door motors fitted too!
works a treat and i feel a little bit safer! nice to have remote locking too! ?

Alternatively, sleep on the nack seat with a big fat wrench and crack anyones skull if they even come near your car

fair one, i knew i shouldnt have splashed out!!

Dont bother getting a clifford, waste of money for things that are very unlikely to happen..
central locking, immobiliser and alarm is all you need, the simpler the better for fault problems etc. Mine was 180 inc fitting.
Id never go back to clifford after the experience I had...
