Hi folks looking for ideas, got a golf convertable x reg 2.0se engine code AWG. Slowly we're having a problem with the car drinking petrol. On a routine services one rear caliper was replaced all brakes work as they should, in the past 2 years I've replaced the AMF sensor in the air filter. I've taken an after Market k&n air filter off and replaced with a factory paper item. Taken off an after Market Longlife exhaust and replaced with a Vw factory stainless one. The car doesn't run right pick up is sluggish and I can feel a slight shudder under acceleration, like a misfire.
The car also is getting the throttle body "dirty" the last two services it's been removed and cleaned. 1st by maindealer in Swansea 2nd time it was picked up by an independent.
Any idiot check for me? Nothing showing on vagcom

I've got a 2001 Y reg cab and have the same problem, I think it's the purge valve on the fuel evaporation system. Have you had any light come on the dash? I am trying to find a part number, which isn't easy! I'll let you know if I get anywhere,
