ok, the golf has smoked increasingly since i bought it, so i wanna replace the valve stem seals as i beleive thats where the problem will be!
so where do i start, lol.
any step by step things to consider whilst doing this?
never been this far into the engine, so quite excited!!
need to dig the haynes out and read up but all help appreciated!!!
cheers peeps!

its a head of jobbie rob
-
thought so, so need to consider timing it up again etc...
scary, need to learn though!
so talking new cam cover gasket, head gasket, stem seals....
what else is needed..?
-
It can be done without removing the head.
Compressed air will hold the valves shut.

not gonna be able to do that at home though with basic tools though am i...?
keep the advice coming :P

I know but when you weigh up the extra ball ache in taking the head off plus cam belt etc.
Look at what the job would cost.

true, so do i need a lot of pressure and special tool...?
ive never done timing so would be a learning curve for me which i kinda want!!
but best make sure i have everything i need to do it! lol
quite excited tbh!

well its down to you, if you get the timing wrong youve had it and its going to cost you upto £400 so think about what you will be doing.
