hi guys ive got a couple of problems i need help with i bought a 93 gti yesterday with no radio but the wiring loom is intact and it doesnt look like its been messed with i fitted a jvc unit (came from my old car perfect working order) with the red connected to red and yellow to yellow it switches off with the key but doesnt hold memory if i put red to yellow and ellow to red it holds memory but doesnt switch off with key 2nd prob ive got no radio reception ive traced ariel cable to passenger side footwell were the cable goes into a plastic inline i think must be an ariel amplifier cable looks ok however if i remove the ariel from radio and gently put small screwdriver in the hole i get a reception any ideas please

of course you would need to remove the key completely to see that it switches off...cus i no with the VWs, even when ignition is switched off...so long as the key is still in the barrel after turn off..the ignition is technically on for the radio...or to test that theory...remove the key completely...and use ur finger and press and hold the barrel in where u wud normally put ur key in...its almost like a button! Most cases with VW's is that the OEM aerial loom tends to b quite weak with aftermarket or none original radios. So you are required to purchase an additional aerial signal booster which is almost like a cylindrical affair with a blue wire loose hangin off it to attach to the remote wire of the new radio to send power to turn the little aerial amplifier ON and then work its magic. Common issue with VWs n Audis. Altho a lot of em are ok without this booster too so its more a game of chance dependant on the car itself i find.
