Title: how do i clean my egr valve out

hi there i need to clean my egr valve out and i would appreciate some advice on how to take it of and what cleaning products to use , many thanks nath

or u could get rid of the egr as i had a faulty one so i needed a new one after alot of info of many helpfull members i went with a egr delete pipe as it less retrictive as gases arent sent round the system for a second burn(as far as i understand) b4 it fired out the exhaust.

took about 25 mins to fit then i had to redo the blocking plate as i put it on the exhaust pipe whixh then flapped around and snapped so i had to put it onto the manifold istself as the intructions had said lol. it up to u.

The best thing I found for cleaning it was a small brass wire brish and some solvent parts washer fluid from machine mart :afro:

Mine passed the last 2 MOT's with one and a full turbo back system

I wonder if it passed this year though  :lipsrsealed:

I doubt my old Golf passed it this year without some sort of favour being exchanged by the new owner and the MOT people  :lipsrsealed: :laugh: :laugh:

since i added the delete pipe i have passed an mot no probs at all with emissions i read a bit more on the topic of testing and diesel it a smoke test well what i understand that is as not tested on emmisions but again and often proven i might b wrong lol but as said still passed mot no prob with only egr delete and 145000 on the clock

hi was chatting to my local garage about a decat and he told me the mot on diesels is not an emission test as sorts, it is a test which fires a beam of light or laser across the tail pipe to see how thick the gas is the more light that gets through the better and that is how they test the emissions so there should be no problem with a decat.
he has had a couple of golfs in which have had an egr delete kit and decats and they have all passed the mot with no problems.
