I know it is possible to disable the seatbelt warning altogether, but I wondered if there was an option to have the warning light without the chime? I have a long driveway and like taking off the belt - the chime is driving me up the wall.
I see on VAGCOM there is the option for warning types 1, 2 (default), 3 and 4. I tried 1 and it refused to take it and I am currently on 3 (still chime). Have not tried 4, but will later. I don't even know what the different types mean!
Does anyone have experience of this?

Sorry, Sam, most of us aren't privelidged (sp?) to have extremely long driveways like you, pal
-
Indeed! I'll just have to disable the warnings altogether or try Type 4!

Clunk, click, every trip.

or lift your arse off the seat, not comfy but might save you hours of programming !!!!!!

Conscience told me to leave it on!

Go to local wreckers. Cut the seatbelt clip off a piece of sh!t. They are all the same I believe standard safety fit on all cars. That'll stop it and not void your insurance / warrenty .

In the name of safety, common sense prevailed. :lipsrsealed:

Great idea.
Or get one of these (it'll ease your piles too)

Range Rover and Discovery owners can turn on the ignition (and not start the car) and the put the buckle in and out 10 times. From then on, the car will warn with a light and not a chime. Great for when trundling about the farm!
Now, maybe I should try that in my car - it's not the warning I mind about, it's the flipping bing-bing-bing ....

Mine sounds like a charming wedding bell. Does it really matter anyway?

I think he's talking about moving short distances on private property. In which case old Jimmy Saville can take a flying leap (with his seat belt on, of course )
I want to disable the chime on mine too - drives me mad when moving the car around.
-
I turned mine off with Vagcom - although I can't remember how.
I always wear my seatbelt - but I often drive with my bag on my passenger seat. Its usually heavy enough to trip the seatbelt chime - so I turned it off.
-
^ Im more or less sure i spotted it in the long code helper on VCDS.
-
It's in the Instruments - Coding - Long Coding Helper

Cheers chaps

Never checked if that also removes the light on the cluster? I 100% want the warning light, it is the chime along my drive that is a bore. And now I have my GTD, I creep along it!!
@mike: does it disable warning or just chime?
-
It disables both, not sure if it is possible to do them separately.
-
Is it really that uncomfortable to leave the belt on as you go down your drive, seems a lot of hassle reprogramming for the sake of wearing a seat belt for a few extra metres.
-
+1
Much ado about nothing.

1,380 metres!

Lets a picture please ? long drive

Unlit and wooded, I bet.
-
And bumpy. Wish I had ACC!
-
Bumps could be quite
useful fun in the dark.
Plus the ding-dong which should add to the fun.
So sorry about the lack of ACC.

Ironically on this subject, I did abit of shopping yesterday after work and the 2 bags were a little heavy. I placed them on the front passenger seat and as I started driving the belt warning light came on along with the annoying beeping. So the passenger seat must have a sensor within it to detect a certain weight is applied to the seat and if so, it will assume that it is a passenger....
Has anyone else had this?

Yes, and if you have the rear seat airbags option the rear too has sensors.

Remember, the car is German......
Fahren ohne Sicherheitsgurt ist verboten.

Ich bin vollkommen einverstanden. - I totally agree.
Nizza, mit Ihnen, mein lieber reden. - Nice talking with you, my dear.
Sie haben sich löste, Liebling. - (They broke up, darling). Got this one wrong!
Jetzt Gürtel up, b!tch! - Now belt up, b!tch!
Verpasste Sie. - Missed you.
-
I'd much prefer to be told off by a nice female voice with a German accent than the annoying chime.
Or maybe not such a good idea, I'd probably take the seatbelt off just to be told off again and again.......
-
Sprechen sie Duescht, people? Yeah, well......err.......vorsprung durch technik......hmm.........!

Full English.
Just like being told off in German

whats the point in just the light? surely you must know if you have a seatbelt on or not? if you are turning the chime off then surely it doesn't matter if the little dash light is off too?

I think he might be deaf by now listening to the sound of 'belt bells'. Either this or he's really lost the plot.

this wins... its a lot of trouble to go to for a problem that doesn't exist!

sorry.. I couldn't hear you.. my seatbelt chime was going off

I think it has now become a 'mental' thing.

thats open to interpretation

It is difficult to converse with the shopping on the passenger seat with the chime ringing.
-
This thread is plain daft.
Just leave your seatbelt on.

i found this... I genuinely think it might help

Thanks. Likely to be all off, as opposed to just the microwave pings.
I've grown up and keep the belt on now. Makes braking for the partridges less dangerous!
