What are these engines like? I've test drove it and it pulled well from low revs.
Just would like some info on the engine. Ta

Same engine as the Golf (115bhp)

gti?

gti?
Yep AGG lump, I think the gearbox ratios are different, was sold as a GL in GB and the sport overseas.
-
same engine and box (main difference is the vento will be 4 stud!)
-
Yeah, i wish it was a 5 stud!
Any mods worth doing it not?
-
I think this engine was also used in some Passat's. I dont know the model code but Chuff had a blue estate one a few months ago.
Meant to be very strong reliable engines that are very easy to work on.
The MK2 Golf GTI 8v's all cry out for the bottom end of these engines as meant to make very good performance gains from this.

Can be converted to 5stud easy enough and the same mods as a Golf will work.
-
early ones were 2E code, basically they had same code as equivilant Golf year, same story with some passats and corrado.
to go 5 stud you need to change the wishbones, bearing carriers, outer cvs and the anti roll bar. change to 280mm brakes if it doesnt have them already, but i think they do.
can avoid roll bar swap if you change to B4 passat 5stud wishbones though. another option is to keep the wishbones and bearing carriers, then press 5 stud hubbs into them,. still need to change outer cvs though.
then you'll either need to get your discs redrilled to 5x100, or buy early passat vr6 ones which are VW only:
357 615 301 A - 280 brake disc, 5x100 - 38.83+VAT

i'll stick to 4 stud :p
Will the drilled airbox with new pannel filter be any good?
