Title: 1.8 8v engine mods

hi im new on here. ive just pulled my fiesta off th road to fit th 2.1 zt into so in the mean time ive brought my self a nice little L reg mk3 golf driver 1.8 8v. i paid £300 for it and came  with 10 months mot and 5 months tax as well as a full vw service history and 2 previus owners (women) from new and so far im lovin it  :smiley: i was just wondering if theres any small mods i can do to make the engine a bit more lively i.e. 2.0l thottle/ injector housing or cam ? just wondering if someone could point me in best dirction for small mods for this engine i dont wont to do a convertion as i already have my fezzy for the real power so just lookin on a few gains to make it a bit more drivable thanks jack

the 1.8 8v  singel point injection is a sh!t setup not really a lot can be done about it TBH and it's not really worth trying ether.  the only thing i can think that may give it a bit of a kick up the arse is fitting a 2nd hand std MK2 gti cam. 

other than that the only way to give it half a chance of actulay makeing any power means ripping the rubbish singel point injection system and replaceing it with anything else

ok mate thanks. well i shal kee my eye out for one of those and is there not like an older engine with a carb instead or anything ? thanks for your help so far

Stick to the basics mod the air box and put in a performance panel and if it has a cat put on a decat pipe other than that I wouldnt bother with anything drastic as you won't see the gains.

Whats the diference between the 1.8 AAM and the 1.8 ABS?
What parts should I swap the gain the extra 15 HP from the ABS?

I stuck a mk2 gti cam in mine for a laugh,it does pull better,but idles like a bloody scooby.Was just a bit of fun.When my engine comes out soon you can have this one for a straight swap for your own.
This one is the 90bhp abs engine recon lump fully serviced,timed up perfect,gti cam,modded airbox full exhaust etc.
Wouldnt pull a black man off ya granny,but it will do till i stick the vr6s in.
