Well i dont frequent this lovely part of the mk4 section much but i have a question to ask so here i am
I am looking at Seat leon cupra/fr diesels and all the ones in my price range have galactic mileage.. I was wondering what these engines where good for the (ARL 150) I dont mind buying a high mileage motor but i dont one with 150+ k on the clock for it to then have to have a rebuild at 170k if you get what i mean ??
Many thanks in advance
Dan

Mines on 139k now cams replaced at 110k. my bosses PD130 is on 185k ish and had no engine problems at all

Well theres a guy wanted to swap his one its on 165k.. other than the cams is there anything i should ask him if its had changed ??
cheers Steve

Clutch and Duel Mass Flywheel (DMF)
Over that nothing over what you look for in a 1.8t, water pump, timing belt and so on.
-
Well this guy wants a straight swap with this.. what ya think is it worth it ??

Mine isn't the PD (AHF) but I bought mine with 150K on the clock and it now has 214K!
Engine is fine, relaible, pulls well (for a 110 ) and easily passes the emissions test on the MOT.
The clutch made it to 200K, a few bushes and normal wear and tear items are starting to need replacement.
Personally I wouldn't be put off purchasing a high mileage one

Mines on 138k now, engine pulls like a train, uses no oil/water, has been remapped and gets some hard driving, my dmf needs doing soon though but thats just general wear and tear, The motor looks nice, I also wouldnt be put off by the high millage either tbh, not if the price is right.

Good to see people are seeing the light, you will love the fact that you get alot more actual driving time with the tdi rather than the 1.8t lump always having a boost leak etc being stuck in the garage

Well ive had mine coming up a year now and covered about 10k and havnt had a single problem engine wise, ive had it remapped for 9k of the millage and has perfomed amazing since the day it was done, My 1.8t vrs had several boost problems/leaks within the first 6 months of ownership, hence i swore id never go back to the 1.8t engine.
