Here's a photo of the little scallywag. (taken by the previous owner, I haven't had a chance to take some snaps yet).
I'm kind of loving it's OEM look, 14" inch steels and all. Some OEM roof bars are on their way too out of neccessity for carrying bikes etc...
I've got a soft spot for Teledials mostly, but also BBS RA's/Lenso BSX's/Ronal Turbos but I can't afford some coilovers and I don't want to spoil the ride too much.
My questions are thus:
Will it look rubbish on teles without being lowered?
Should I fully embrace the roofrack look and try and get some nice slats?
Should I just keep it totally OEM and enjoy it's subtlety?
Do i spend to much time thinking about this?

lower it and either its steelies which look cool, with the roof rack with or without slats  my mk2 golf is slammed 60mm all round and its a little lumpy bumpy  so maybe a 40mm drop  i also sometimes use a roof bars (period style) and it does look cool as long as the car is super clean, if not it starts to look like a works van
nice looking car tho......dont think it would look right at that height with alloys tho.

Me personally I would treat it to a damn good detail, a good service and drive the beast all day long.
I love oem, but to me that is original/retro. Maybe swap the wheels for G60 15" steels, because teledials suck!

if it were mine...
decked, chrome spinners, velour interior & somewhere to keep my pimp stick!

Yeah, since it's my daily there's a bunch to be said for making it run like a watch above everything else.
I'm going to be fitting some SQ speakers and amps though, that is beyond question
Does my bum look big in this?

Slam it first, run it on whatever wheels you got (will still look good as long as they're tucked) and save for some nice wheels in the summer or next year (depends how much money you have). Its still winter wheel season for another couple o months anyway- jus tidy it up as much as poss like others have said. It took me 2 years to fully decide what rims I wanted, and plenty of shows to see them in the flesh, narrowed it to borbet a/b or ronal ls's. Couldn't find decent b's, a's look a bit too rollerskate like, so went for the ronals as they're v good rims for the £
