Title: Sat Nav 2011 maps

Does anyone know when the new software (v8, 2011 maps) is out and installed on new cars...?
I will buy my wife a new Polo when this is available and pass it on....Steve30 first though.....!

I thought it was licensed (sp) software? And therefore can't be shared. :huh: as far as when, i don't think your wife will be getting her polo any time soon! :sad:

v7.1 will be next out and is due around week 22 this year. v8 will probably be the September time.

Damn, I hoped that the 2011 maps would be out earlier than Sep 2011. I'll see what I can do, but there are certain peeps who lead the line already !

I have 7.1 beta installed. Anyone got a street they want me to test?

I've also got the latest beta firmware installed. Shiny new boot screen and .... not much else that I can find! I will look deeper when I get the chance. It is awesomely smooth at rendering and moving the maps about, but that might not be anything new.

In terms of POIs, I have not tried adding any to the DVD itself. But, as I am sure you are all aware, you can now add your own POIs from an SD card on to the system. Will make updating speed cameras a bit easier, although not sure we can have custom icons with POIs from the SD. Maybe I should make a DVD with a set of custom icons that can be used.

See http://vwlabs.com/ (http://vwlabs.com/) for the VW POI tool. You can also have images for your destinations - a little bit strange!

Anyway, send over your map or post code tests and I'll report back.
