Just spotted it hanging down and nowhere obvious to connect it to :undecided:

It looks like one of those connector types that fit onto a water temp or maf sensor terminal..bit of a guess though from here, someone will know for sure.

One of the coolant sensors?

They are at the front here and appear to be accounted for:-

This one shows the connector and the coolant sensors:-

The hall sensor for the dizzy sounds good as it is probably the same loom as a standard Mk3 but it does seem a bit gash and unvolkswagen like to simply leave it dangling

That's the problem, there isn't anything that I can see. I'm wondering if there is something buried under the shroud that I can't see :undecided:

Ah.....the auxiliary water pump. I wonder if that has been removed :undecided:
I'll have to take a look in the manual and find out where it should be fitted.

Well with the cooling system troubles they may have removed it.

I haven't found anything like that fitted

Connector looks right but I can't find a component location picture in the Bentley manual

If that plug is it then it has been removed and bypassed, might be worth getting a wiring diagram and seeing if that is the plug.

Ok, I think I have got to the bottom of the mystery thanks to your help.
It looks like the electric auxiliary pump has been removed:-

Just a bit more searching and that looks to be the plug.

I think that it runs when a certain temp is reached, might better to refit it if you can.

part you need is 251 965 561 B, 100 from VW. maybe ring up your ford dealer, i bet the galaxy VR6 still had these pumps on and it'll be way cheaper from ford than vw!

with some searching apparently 0 392 020 024 is the bosch number, and you can get them for 16.77 from a local bosch dealer

yeah sorry that info came from a random thread on forum somewhere, the chap found it for that price from his local bosch dealer :)

I've been trying all morning, including local Bosch dealers, and the price seems to come out at £100.
I found the post that you found in the seatcupra.net forum but the guy doesn't really follow it up later so I have my doubts:-

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=152393 (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=152393)

I'm going to concentrate on getting the MOT on it and then I'll address this problem later, in the meantime I'll get an ebay search going and see if one comes up cheap

At least I now know what the connector is for and yet another example of how this poor old cooling system has been through the mill

Yeah, I've got a couple in mind to try tomorrow. They are en-route to GSF and I have to go back there tomorrow as the exhaust parts that they ordered for me don't match up so they've had to reorder.
