Title: vw golf spare key
Post by: golfball on 28 August 2003, 09:14
i've just bough a 2001 golf but it only came with one key so i'm looking to make a spare key but i've been told it can only be done through a dealer. where can i find out my local dealers address and will i need to pre book or can i just turn up and get the new key done, also roughly how much should it cost?

You will need to go to the dealer as all the new keys are programmed to match the ecu. The existing key will have to be programmed with the new key. I think its about ?60 (ouch!) to get done. I think you will have to pre-book as VW download the codes from the main VW place i think.
