Hi Guys,
Advice needed please!
I have an awful whining noise coming from the front passenger side of the car, the vibrations it creates make your legs feel like jelly on long journeys and can also be felt through the steering wheel.
It seems to be not as bad when steering right and worse when steering left and when the car goes over a bump (or slight dip in the road, you know what I mean - when the front of the car dips lower for a split second).
Its been getting worse over the past 4 months or so but getting pretty unbareable now.
I'm wondering, is the gearbox? Wheel Bearing? CV joint?
How can I tell?
Cheers

wheel bearing to me.
jack car up, place hands on top and bottom of wheel. push with top hand and pull with bottom hand, then do the opposite. if it moves then take it to a garage lol.
This can be a big problem if you leave it. take to a garage and get it fixed dude.

I agree with tweed, definately sounds like a wheel bearing! If so then get it done sharpish or it'll eat it's way through the hub! But there should be a lot of play in it if it's that bad!
If the noise gets louder the faster you go then I'd put money on it being a bearing!
Hope this helps, mike

Thanks guys, I'll check it out pronto :)
Are front bearings relatively easy to change?

Could also be a gearbox bearing.

could be your missus using her vibrator?

or the miss's whining generally? They can do that i've noticed!
Key diagnostic test is "does it do it when she's in the car?"

Haha.
Unfortunately it doesnt make a difference whether the misses is in the car or not. Ive looked under the seat but no vibe rolling around...
Must be something else lol.
Will be checking the bearing over the weekend!
