Title: Stereo turns back on
Post by: golfmk4owner on 20 January 2011, 17:33
Hi guys, very odd but as normal when i turn my car off and take the key out the stereo turns off but then sometimes, but not all the time, turns itself back on (with the key out mind) after a second or two. It then takes anything up to ten seconds to turn back off automatically finally. Very strange when i gotta sort of get out the car, pause a few seconds for it to turn back off, then close my door.
Any idea why? Its so odd

Cars a GT TDI 140, radio has recently been upgraded to a RNS 510 bit IIRC it did it with the factory one too.

You need to be sure it was doing it with the old headunit. I don't believe in coincidences. If it's only been doing it since the upgrade then there must some wires crossed somewhere.

Yes it did it with the last one, because i was kind of hoping that the upgrade would also fix the problem at the same time, but clearly not. Any idea what the problem is?

Is your car a MK4 or MK5? for a start.

Who upgraded your Radio? reason I ask is have you had to upgrade your Can Gateway,

(I have 55 Mk5 & when I upgraded from a RCD310 t0 a RCD510 I had to upgrade the Can Gateway & copy the settings)

(the RCD510 did not match my old Gateway)  This is a known issue.

Well the cars a mk5, hence its in the mk5 section lol, but i didnt state that clearly.
And i changed it myself, there were no issues when changing, the loom fitted fine and the stereo worked straight away.

Its an intermitant problem - the past two days it hasnt done it, but few days before that it was doing it, and itll do it again im sure.
Also like i said, the previous factory stereo did the same thing, its as if its a fault on the key switch if there is such a thing?
