After getting some almost new JOM coilies back in december i have finally got round to having them fitted. Why did i wait so long? I shiould have fitted them as soon as I bought them.
I am now one very happy golf owner. Gone are they days when i drive over a speed bump and the front of the car rides up like a fishing vessel ploughing into a large wave.
Not gone for a silly drop, only about 40 mm all round to see how i like it. Looks good and feels good, firm yet not too firm. Going for a drive after work to properly test them out.
Only problem is I now need spacers or bigger wheels!!
-
Only 40mm, you should slam it.
-
it was a 'test the water' drop really. i wanted to try them out with a small drop so if i drop it more i can feel the difference and work out what suits me best and from what i've read slamming will give a very harsh ride which i'm not kean on. Firm is good enough for me.

Pics or it didn't happen

Firm for me is too soft! :lipsrsealed:  Slam it on it's ass!
No seriously, lower it to however you feel comfortable.
-
did father xmas give these to you? If so he must have had a weighty sack.
-
ha ha no santa did not unload a heavy sack at my house!!! i bought them a few weeks before crimbo.
will try and get a pic up later or tomorrow as evidence of said work.
i think it might need to go a bit lower but the wheels already look lost in the arches

and how she sits now, not drastic but much nicer

went for a drive last night loving the handling and lack of body roll, bumpier but nothing i cant get used to. I may go a tad lower at some point in the future when I have some free time.
what do you guys think?

Looks better my friend, but you need a bit of this going on:
This wasn't standard height, I'm not sure what it was really, probably about 30mm-40mm:

But now she sits like this:

^^^^
That's what you want to do really.

drop it on it's ass! if you can still make speedbumps it's too high

This man speaks the truth!
-
Lower it more with spacers
-
hmmm, general consensus is slam it then. as i thought it would be.
well next job is change an engine mount, fit new bonnet that doesnt have laquer peel then i'll have another goose at the ride height.
spacers are a must, where's a good place to get some from? got no experience of these before so how big, 10mm, 15mm? :undecided:
-
My car was definately an argument for slamming.

it just looks so much better. Although I want to go lower.
As far as spacers are concered, I didn't bother, I quite like how it looks, although I am waiting on arrival of my banded steels...
-
If you ask me - 40mm is just about the perfect drop!
Then again, Im getting old.
-
what's the ride like being that low?
-
what's the ride like being that low?
Hard, mine is since I lowered it more last weekend.
-
Mine is lowered 60mm all round and i find it too soft!

speed bumps are troublesome, but rizzla papers are hardly even noticeable. Haha.
To be honest, it's not too bad, it feels much much more sturdy on corners. It is stiff, but I've driven cars this low for a while so that has distorted my view. I now think all cars at standard ride height look life offroaders and are too soft and bouncy.
