Got hold of some mk3 top mounts to get rid of the stupid slotted nut but when we came to fit them it was obvious that the plate which goes on top of the spring was miles too small.
Is there a certain year mk3 i need to get them from? I was under the impression that later mk3 s all had the better smaller mounts.

You need the pre-1995 top mounts. They do come in 65mm (91>95) and 80mm(95<98) pigtails on the springs.

Are these the springs to use when fitting coilovers?

when fitting coilovers you dont change the spring plates, just fit the top mounts direct to them. if converting to mk3 type you also need the threaded bush

So i need to get the whole setup again or will changing the spring plate for a bigger one be ok? I got complete setup from mk3 top mounts but i dont know what year they are from. If you put the mk3 mounts against the mk2 ones they are the same size. Sorry im a bit lost.
