http://www.revotechnik.com/index.php?mod=show_news&id_nws=55 says it all... :nerd:
is there anyone who tell me if they fixed the boost issues, something about hardware mods I think...
Maybe I have to get rid of my APR flash and go Revo
-
Hmm... it raises 2 questions for me.
Firstly, they recorded 246bhp from a standard mk6 on the dyno.
Secondly, Steve is that your car again?

 F me I need to switch to revo now!!
is there any boost issues then Ken? Also surely this isn't at the wheels is it?

Had mine stage 2 last week to solve the boost issues that i got after fitting the Milltek and Filter,
Now soooo smooth and instant power  not sure what sort of figures it is giving now but must be around the same as Kenny's i would think
-
It's settled then getting my Milltek fitted at JKM hopefully next week when they get stock so i'll switch to Revo then
Could anyone tell me possibly where I can purchase Carbonio intake stage 1&2, I've ordered one from awesomegti but they say its on back order and don't know when they will have stock...Thanks
-
Got my milltek and Carbonio stage 2 from Awesome, the Filter did take a while to come and it has got APR Carbonio wrote across it,
Awesome do not deal with APR maps anymore so i don't know about the filters cos i think Carbonio is part of APR now ??
You will love the Milltek

That's a GTI with Halogens.
SteveP's car is a GTI with Bi-Xenons, so that car is not his.

Dave, it's a GTI just with a Golf R grille (I know as I have driven it) and it's got a rear camera fitted by an true expert

Only additional preformance I have is the Forge Twintercooler Neil. Maybe a further investment for you

I still get it sometimes TBH but very rarely at that. Not sure what causes it? Stage 2 all in all in fantastic, a flee machine! But I always crave more

You guys not worried about the resale value of the cars with all the modifications you guys are doing.
Sorry for the voice of doom comment but it is one of the things that is holding me back making some performance upgrades.
Jim
-
^^^ Simples, just keep all the stock parts and put it back to standard
I did this on my last car, a stage 2+ Edition 30, got over 60% of the parts price back via ebay and forums and a strong price for the standard car.

I do want to
Revo appeals to me, going to look into them. I have a history of modding stuff from mountain bikes to motorbikes. Once I start I can't stop.....
I nice exhaust also appeals....
-
So what is stage 2 what parts do you need before the map?
-
^^^ Just the Turbo Back Exhaust, but most people also fit an intake or at least a panel filter.
-
Intercooler isnt required but will keep things nice and cool. You probably get away with a 3" downpipe and sports cat???
-
LOL :D @ Revo and their 246bhp stock dyno run
-
They must have a similar dyno to Superchips, their stock car was 249bhp.

Are these the only mods to your car Kenny for the plot you posted above?
-
No, I have the Carbonio Induction, Forge IC and BlueFlame Turbo Back with hi-flow cat. But for stage 2 am sure all is needed as a min is induction and downpipe with hi-flow car. Not sure what the results would be?
-
Heres my results  Murder to hold down in the wet!
Dyno dynamic is the ones thats normally quite acurate iirc?
-
They are one of the most known rolling road companies about. Awesome GTI got around the same results with another TSI revo stage 2 so seems 300bhp is the norm. People forget that the TSI uses a different turbo to the MK5 FSI. Although it's smaller it's meant to be much more efficient hence the more power. Hope that doesn't upset anyone
-
I do find it a bit strainge that the graph on the revo site that below ~2.5K the stock map makes more BHP & Torque.
-
(http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt94/NeilGti/scan0001.jpg)
These are the results on mine last year with the Revo map stage 1
Before i had fitted Milltek, Carbonio, Stage 2 map, will have to get it RR again to see the difference in figures
-
You will ruin a good car.
What makes you say that?
-
Because he is anti KO4 and prob thinks from the thread title you now have the bigger turbo and so turbo lag but you don't have the bigger turbo.
-
I would love to see a MK6 GTi at jkm at stage 2.See how it compares to the K04 at the same state of tune.
IHI turbo in the mk6, which is smaller the the twin scroll k04 turbo, but you say produces 300bhp.....
Stage 2 eddy is only 280-300 tops.
-

Dyno dynamic is the ones thats normally quite acurate iirc?
Is that run in 3rd gear? and the torque curve doesnt look very smooth. Wheelspin perhaps??
-
Well 4th gear run gave a figure of 304 bhp, so say my car is 304 bhp then?
IHI is a smaller much more efficient turbo than the K03 on the older FSI engine hence the higher numbers than the Mk5. Give AwesomeGTI a call and ask them to send you some prints of REVO stage 2 TSI's they have done aswell, we are all get the same numbers 295 - 300bhp. Not sure what you mean about the K04 vs the IHI, K04 is a different class hands down  Golf R 270 bhp, stage 1 - 310bhp! Stage 2 - 340bhp(ish)?
-
^^^ The air is much finer down South with Saint Steve so they have differing dyno results at JKM to everywhere else

All tuning companies I have dealt with, REVO, APR and CC offer a stock map but it's just their version of "stock" map. Once you map you lose the OEM map.

300 bhp through two wheels is pure madness
I have enough problems keeping traction with my measly 260 bhp.
Things will probably be a bit better when the roads are dry....
-
Asker, we must stop straying off topic. This thread might end up in the Big wide Walls of the nonsense chat section........
Abit like it's horsepower claims in the thread title
Sorry

300 bhp through two wheels is pure madness
You need better suspenders and rubber for 300 bhp.
-
 I don't have a problem with any amount of smooth delivered power as i have a couple of devices that lets me select the bhp power i want for the correct conditions. You may have heard of them, the main one that has loads of available setting options is called a throttle pedal which gives me a large variance in power available options at my control.
-
^^
Yup
I don't often thrash my car and it took a while to find the new traction point after the bluefin.
First and second can be a bit difficult to control, especially in the damp/wet.
3rd,4th,5th and 6th are just so smooth and 'grunty' , I love it.
Throttle control was an issue for a short time though.....
-
Well, you've all managed to put off a potential re-map customer. Thanks.
-
Hi Asker
Put you off??? How?
If you floor the throttle in 1st or 2nd you will get a bit of wheelspin that's all.
As Snoops said it's all down to throttle control, you soon get used to it.
You've been umming and arring about this for so long I think you're just scared

Yes, you may be right. But also, I could not do anything due to insurance costs. My premium would have jumped by an extra £1400! Come March, I'll change to Admiral or Elephant and I can do as I please without major finanacil repercussions.
I also had to sell my 'Winter' wheels because of this.
-
Change insurance company.
Simples.
My premium actually went down.
-
Am1w: I would also look at do you actually need the power, will you actually use it the way you use the car daily?
-

.... and that Snoops is the bottom line. Hence my vacillation.
Plus, I can have warranty problems, not due to the re-map, but something else and VW might easily refuse to pay-up if they read the flash count (?). Too much of a risk IMO.
-
For me it's partly knowing it's there, when I need/want it.
I don't use all of the grunt very often and I never race.
Sometimes though, driving along an open road I put my foot down and the thrill is just out of this world.
Strong, silent type I think it's called, That's my car, not me
-
Same as me GolfTi, It can come in very useful when you need a bit extra, it is so effortless in the midrange but most of the time I don't need it especially in this weather when even the standard map has problems with traction.
Sometimes I wonder if they have also recalibrated the speedometer
Looking forward to some warmer days with more grip.

The re-map is constantly on my mind. I will sleep on this until March. If I do re-map it will be Bluefin. That's for sure. 100%.
I just need to find a car with this installed before I take the plunge. Yes, I am scared but also wary. I've had a pretty dismal experience with VW Customer Care and with Warranty problems. I have been bitten quite badly. You have no idea what stress I went through wih them. Snoops is on the same page as me and he has also been through hell and back. It consumes one.
Yes I am scared, but it's only natural.

Chill

Funny how you can go from one VW garage to another and get totally different attitude. My car was down for its first service last week, I asked if the ECU would be updated, guy said if it has been chipped, told hiom yes, then he said no we just leave them as they are for you. When my car was finished with, I was walking back out to the carpark and the tech that serviced my car was there and was asking what I had done to it, ( he took it out a shot to check my leaky window seals!) think he enjoyed the wee shot down the bypass and back! Asked him about warrenty, and remaps etc and he explained that they would go out their way to not blame a remap. For talking sake if your turbo was goosed they would change it under warrenty for you but the turbo would get sent away for VW to inspect and that where the risk lies for them not being payed, but how can they prove its a remap that buggered it!? My Polo 1.8T had a fault turbo (APR Remap) and it got change no questions asked.

Revo apparently claim that the flash count doesn't increase with their remap.

Apparently is the operative word wrt REVO.
If I do re-map, it will be Bluefin. Not interested in REVO from what I have read.

You'd be surprised what you can learn from the condition of bearings, impeller and turbine. However the cost of analysis and preparing a report is probably more than the cost of a new turbo!
-
So how are the stage 2 cars doing and holding up now?
Any update reports from owners?
There was a moddified edition 30 on my drive yesterday and so it got me thinking!!

All is well mate  still pulls like a wee train when required! :embarassed:

No clutch issues with a Stage 2 ?
-
Nope, fortunatly everything is fine. Suppose some people might depending on their driving style.

My clutch lasted about 3days on Stage 2, Dont believe Kenny, Couple of full bore starts and it will sh!t that standard clutch out the exhaust

Yes but anybody considering stage 2 really needs to invest in a proper clutch.

Well I have been fine and from what I gather on other forums from across the waters they have been fine aswell. People have upgraded going to K04 or stage as you would expect.

No engine or clutch problems here on stage 2 and i have done 10 days at the Ring, 4 Days at Spa, 3 days at Silverstone this year,
So it has been driven like the GTi should be
The only problem i've had is from the KW rear shocks
-
I am upgrading my clutch friday I have been K04 since october. I am pushing 371BHP and 381 LB/FT Tq mine only started slipping a couple weeks ago.

Would love to see the dyno chart for that one mate, what else have you done?

371bhp with a K04! Not get much more out that!? What other mods have you got along with it etc?

Defiantly not out of PUFF at 350 BHP.

What are the internals good for in the GTI? Anyone else having problems?
-
I know of a couple guys in the states still on stock internals pushing just over 400BHP on a race fuel and water/meth injection mapping. They say that is the max that our fuel system can handle though.
-
I want a shot!

It would appear 371 is a benchmark for internals.
Oh and krazy, your not fully mental until you 'NOS' her. There was a MK4 with NOS on the site a while back, he set the benchmark for nuttyness

All that work and your pepaired for somthing as small as the entire fuel system to get in the way? BIGGER INJECTORS, STRONGER PIPES AND BETTER PUMPS!

Mine BEFORE the 100bhp shot nitrous. So K04's definitely aren't out of puff at 350bhp.

Oh and if you want to go for hybridising your K04, with an uprated in-tank fuel pump you can get this bhp. Since this pic he has put on W/M and now doing 440bhp and 420lbft on stock internals.
