Title: Can someone point me in the right direction....
Post by: danski on 18 January 2011, 09:57
...I know I`ve read it somewhere.

I fitted the rear LED`s and used VAGCOM, so they work with no fault lights.

I`m sure I read somewhere about what settings to use so that when the front headlights were on, the DRL`s (inner lights) would be off, like it was before I fitted the LED`s.

Didnt really bother me at first but then been flashed a couple of times recently - even though the full beam wasnt on, so I think I should stop being lazy and sort it out. Thing is, I cant find the post anywhere, may not even be on this forum, but I`ve searched all the ones I`m a member of and cant find it.

Any help muchly appreciated.

I had a similar problem and SteveP sorted it. It took a bit of his genius to figure it out.

Thanks flc1962, I already turned them off that way before I installed the LED`s, the come back on once recoded when the headlights are on, cant seem to get the off now.

I think a PM to Stevep is in order then.

Cheers

I set my coding to Hex 15 Binary 0001 0101 and everything is working great. What code did you use?

Mine was the same as KennyGTI

I found I needed to use Hex 15 in Byte 18 to get my DRLs off.

But it did not work on my car because I think Steve tried. I might be wrong.

Bugger, I've been out and tested worked for me. Though my lighting is standard.

Is there not another option you could try in the long code helper to turn them off.
It says something like 'DRL by seperate light units' under byte 15?

This sounds different to Asker's car.

On his car I found I had to set byte 18 back to 00 then turn off the "DRL via low beam" option (can't remember which byte this is under) then set byte 18 back to 15 and re-enable the DRL's via low beam. This was because the DRL's weren't active.
