Title: New sills needed - Where to buy?
Post by: Shady Pioneer on 17 January 2011, 13:28
My sills are in need of welding work, and I'm wondering would it be better to buy new sills and get them welded, or repair the existing ones (which are pretty shot tbh).

Any help appreciated.

Thanks. I've emailed them requesting a price for both. Hopefully it won't be too expensive.

Thanks for the offer Dan. :)

Although I'm debating going with these guys, as delivered I'd be looking at about £60.

Guy on eBay was selling full sills £25 a side so those prices all seem about right.

Yup thats what you need aright, just be careful tho cus when i went to put my skirts back on, they had either shrunk or the replacment arch wasnt exactly the same shape as the OE one, i just took a hammer too it and bent the botton corner in a tad.

Just thought it was worth a mention, maybe test your skirts for legth befor your man gets heavy with the welding..

All the best Justin

You need a new Mk3 then, unless you are handy with a welder and paint will cost ££££

It is a much cleaner job like that but quite a lot of work, look at TShirt2k or GTI Jamo's build threads.
Hope your friend works for Beer money

Is that the outer sill Len?
Title: Re: New sills needed - Where to buy?

YES!

I would be dubious of doing inner sills, patch with chassis grade sheet, depending on how bad they are.

Cheers Len

I think for ease of getting both outer rear sills its eaiser than patching up
