Title: Wheel decisions....
Post by: twistedblack69 on 16 January 2011, 20:00
Hmm...really can't decide on what wheels to get, narrowed it down to three:

16" BBS RX (the pic is 17"): bit different to the norm, don't see many mk2s on these (at least i don't)

16" Borbet A: would probably be 7j, as don't really want to get stuck into cutting my arches out for 9j right now, though I think there's no other way with Borbet than 9j (little rhyme I live by....lol) though the second pic....I do LOVE this car!

or 15" ATS Cups...one of my favourites, but haven't really got the money to refurb them every other year, heard bad things about laquer peel on them

EDIT: is there no poll option anymore??

Borbet A's as a first choice for me then the ATS Cups (this is what i have as my summer wheels) and then the bbs ones. To be fare though i would have them all if i had the money to do.

I should say ats cups as ive got a pair... agree'd that laquer peel is a b!tch.

But theres something about colour coded borbet 9s that makes me sex wee.

Reckon borbets would work with small bumbers?

I think the Borbets would look too big on a small bumper...personal opinion only, haven't seen it done tho

for some reason borbet A's just look wrong these days (black one pulls it off though)
gone are the deep dish and poke days

ATS cups are nice but BBS RX's win this time.

looking for 16'' RX II splits myself

I've been wanting RXs for a while but not been able to find any at the right price. I think they look good on the MK2.

Have a look on ebay, go to advanced search settings and choose "Completed Listings Only" and type in "polo gti bbs rs" and they should come up, they were listed as £3199 but I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be £319, they haven't long been refurb'd, there's a number in the listing, give him a ring and see if they've gone. I was going to get them, as they're only done the road, but I think I should sort the stuff that's wrong with the car first, priorities and all that jazz.

There are a set of borbet B's for sale near me. If I had the cash I'd be having them. If you'd like details I can PM them to you.

I love a bit of dish on my mk2's.

Bloke on another forum is selling these exact wheels, you know when you actually physically yearn for something? That's how I feel about these wheels. I need a job that pays decent money so I can afford to splash out on things like this...

Think I'll always love deep dish and poke on the mk2. Might paint my RX's
