I had a 3 Door X reg when I were a lad.  It too was a series 1, had the oval instruments and everything. It was the cross over year though I believe.

voted oem mate, if you had a reiger kit that quattro bonnet would suit well. also imho that late model grill dont do it any favours with the retro body kit, cant you get a 13 slat grill for it?

Fair enough...

The later cabby grille is on because it matches the lines of the valance.  I'm kind of looking for a period one at the moment at the right price. To see how it looks.

What you could really do with is an aftermarket grill maybe, I know it would be hard to find.

What sort were you thinking?

I found all sorts from South Africa but they never got back to me.  Wanted to know if they would ship to UK and if their stuff would fit a UK spec car.

Yeah maybe... shame they're debadged.  Don't even know if I can get one, don't think their stuff costs much.

Might be worth a try.

If you could get a mesh that is close fitted to the bonnet I think that would look.

I hate mesh, that stuff was already there... was going to black it out?... its hard to remove as it's been glassed in from the back in a box section with 4 oval vents on the inside a couble of inches back.. hard to explain..

So you reckon bare holes if I can manage it somehow?

My personel preference would be just the holes, but it's down to you. I just hate mesh!

You're right, for ease I will black it all out first and take it from there.
