Oks got in the mk4 today and started engine and turned my side lights on and my stereo came on, so switched it off and thought nothing of it. Driving on motorway switched my main beam on and again stereo switched it self on. Any ideas what's up with the golf now ? Lol it's a standrd headunit GAMMA one.
Thanks

Maybe its telling you to listen to some music?
What station did it load? you might have local traffic turned on so its just alerting you to that

Can't remember which station I had on but don't think it was traffic as if only came one when I switched my lights on. Hasn't hapend since.

Sounds like your "illumination" feed to the radio is interfering with its functions. Could be a lead up to a faulty radio. Fetch it out and unplug it then plug it bak in agen n see if that solves it. Consider that a reset of the radio...alternatively..disconnect battery for a few minutes.
You could always elliminate the illumination wire...however, with OEM radios...it performs as a backlight for the buttons when the vehicles lights are on so you can see what your pressing.
See how you get on with that.
