Title: Annoying faults
Post by: jonesltd on 15 January 2011, 15:56
Right was driving along and engine workshop came up on the car and flashing coils.

Ayway scanned the engine part and it came up with this

1 Fault Found:
16955 - Brake Switch (F): Implausible Signal
        P0571 - 35-00 - -

??

you could have a look at the number on the rosstech web site. To be honest it looks like brake switch which is above the brake pedal usually.

Cheap fix. Other symtoms can be rear brake lights staying on constantly.

Id go genuine from VW... theyre only cheap just a brake light switch. DIY fit... I think its one of those switches that getting aftermarket may not be the best solution... Your call though :) i know on my mk4 ibiza they had made changes to the switches so it was best to get one from the dealers. The one i took out was completely different to the new one, solved the faults and i never had an issue again.

Saying that though! A couple of years later i had the coil and traction control lights on the dash and it was because both brake light bulbs had gone... problem solved :)... just a thought.

Like the man said, buy genuine from VW for around £10

Method:

Make sure you twist it on in the correct sequence or you'll damage it.
