Title: having a bad day... bonnet catch
Post by: RyanVW on 15 January 2011, 15:40
okay so i took apart the bonnet catch today in my mk3 cos it wasnt shutting properly.
I cleaned it, lubricated it then replaced it, but it was still catching and wouldnt shut properly so i narrowed it down to the cable, tightened this up a bit and it worked fine so i secured everything back in place, then shut the bonnet and now... i must have made it too tight because i cant open it
iv took the grill off and i can hardly get at the bolts i can just about feel them with my fingeres but not undo them

any suggestions?!

Thanks

Well i already had the grill off which made the bolts just about accessible with a flexible socket wrench, undo them and the bottom one which is easy to get to then a bit of fiddling to free the bonnet from the catch...

hard to explain without pics but i found it pretty fiddly
