Ive got my 1.8 8v engine ready to rebuild. My question is would the 1.8 difigant engine go into the 1.6driver mk2 without any major problems?? Is there much involved and am i right in thinking the driver is mechanical whereas the digifant is run with an ecu and if so it sounds like a problem to me.

Pretty sure you need the gti loom and ECU, think you need a gti exhaust too IIRC.
-
You will need loom and ecu also fuel tank and lines etc.

Not sure about the tank, I can't see a difference in them. I'm using my original 1.3 tank with my abf.I compared the kr donor tank to the 1.3, no baffles or segregators inside, same depth for lift pump etc etc. Why do people always say its involved in the swap?

You need feed and return lines for injection, is that done through the lift pump if so your correct.

The feed and return go into the lift pump, not the tank itself. Yes the fuel lines and pump etc will be needed, but the tanks are all the same, just a plastic container at the end of the day?

It's also worth considering the non-engine differences between the Driver and GTI - if you're trying to build a GTI out of the donor Driver, there is a lot of work involved.

Yeah its a weird 1. I wasn't being funny I was just wondering if I've missed something! I was told when I asked before conversion that as mine was a carb model I'd need the injection tank, but after a poke about with a torch and a tape I couldn't see why. Even asked the phirm, and they said I would???
