Away from home, car wont start, tried jump start, no joy, think I left my ipod on overnight. What should I do/check?
Help!
-
Is there fuel in it? (check if it's been nicked!)
-
Fuel in, windows, wipers work. Going to get a meter on the battery now
-
I would guess the battery has dropped to such a point it will not jump start, leave the jumpleads on for a while and see if it will go then if not you might be looking at a new battery or charging your old one up.
-
Just don't try and bump start it
-
cheers, and don't worry, I won't.

Yep good point

Charged for 15 mins, still wont start, just clicks, dont turn over at all, main fuses on top of battery are fine.

Starter motor possibly. Give it a tap wenn turning it over with a hammer or something.
-
Tried giving the starter a tap, still no joy, this is doing my nut in.
-
15 mins won't be enough to turn the starter over if it's completely dead.
What are the voltage readings from the battery?
-
Just getting a lift for a meter. How long should I charge it for?
-
Battery 12.2v drops to 11.8 when trying to start, just clicks loudly once when turning key
-
BUMP
Need to sort this today, going to try;
1. Long charge 30mins +
2. Starter motor twa##ing
3. Bump start.
Anything else I can try?
-
Don't bump start, you'll kill the cat/lambdas.
Clicking normally means the battery hasn't got enough juice to engage and turn the starter
-
The cable between the battery and the starter had snapped at the battery end. Looked fine but fell apart when pulled.
Need to remake connection.
