Title: Wheel arch trim things??

Hi, i have seen some paint protectors (not sure what to call them!! lol) on a few mk1 golfs, i have the clipper kit on my mk1 but would like to get some of these protectors. they fit on the rear wheel arch trim! sorry a tad vauge but i dont know what to call them! does anyone know where to get them and how much! +what are they called?? rob

They are arch stonechip protectors if you mean the bit that goes over the back wheel towards the front and down to the clipper side skirt. I've seen them for sale at www.volkspares.co.uk but they are usually for aircooled stuff but you could try ring them as they do some water cooled stuff or they may be able to put you onto someone else who does them or you could try www.gpcvwaudi.co.uk as well. I'd be interested though as I could do with replacing mine eventually.  :smiley:

hi, well tryed thouse web sites and they say you cant get them anymore! not good! may have to try and make me own! not sure what with mind! cheers anyway! rob

When I had my cab resprayed I replaced these bits of trim as well. NVWC (Norwich VW Centre) (01603 480227) were quoting ?80 for an OEM new set - I think that was ?80 each but they are shaped to fit and made of quality vinyl.

In the end I bought some self adhesive carbon effect vinyl from a motorbike store but signmakers would have a similar and probably more pliable alternative.

If I was doing it again I think I'd shell out for the original as shaping it to fit was pretty tricky and involved a lot of time spent crouched by the rear wheel arch waving a hair dryer about...
