Title: Golf GTi door lighting options
Post by: stokeballoon on 14 January 2011, 20:41
Hi all,

I have just fitted Door warning lights, to my Roc R.  in doing so i saw that there was an option in the door controller VCDS to have illuminated door handles (interior).

I know it is not essential, however most things aren't!

Does anyone know of any MK6's with interior illuminated door handles.  I have looked on Etka, can't see any, but some must, perhaps overseas......

It would be even better if they had lights around/from the exterior door handles like BMWs.

The car will then be lit like a Christmas tree but it will still have one lousy and worse than useless reverse light. Talk about priorities.

Try the Tiguan on ETKA Dave

Our new Tig R-Line has the interior handles that are lite

Ref. the door puddle lights: They're a nice touch Dave. I had them on a Leon Cupra I owned many years ago and yet none of the 'upmarket' Golfs I've had have been fitted with anything more than the cheapo reflectors.

The backlit door handles are a luxury touch too

I have a brilliant idea which will revolt Ess_Three. I'd like my five metal pedals back lit by a soft red glow. Now that would be the bling of blings.

Your ticker tape does not respond. Was that the general idea you wicked, wonderful warlock.

You could put red LED's in the footwell lights. These can stay on while driving in increments of 5% which might give you same effect.

Thats easy done if you really want it. Just lit the water bottle up at work on the new water coolered power source as my co-designer has a thing for LEDs.

I wonder what delectable lighting offers will be available for next Christmas and New Year. The mind boggles. :embarassed:

Really easy, took about 1 hour per side.  happy to assist if you decide.  Essentially 2 repair wires, I connector and a light per side.

The door controller is part of the Electric window motor, and is served by a FB plug that has 32 pins.

Pin 18 is Door warning live and 19 is ground.

http://www.my-gti.com/2150 (http://www.my-gti.com/2150) is the guide I used.

1K0 947 411 A (1K0947411A) - Door Warning Light (1 per door)
1J0 971 972 (1J0971972) - Connector Housing (1 per door)
000 979 019 (000979019) - Repair Wire for Connector Housing above (1 per door)
000 979 009 (000979009) - Repair Wire for 32 pin plug (1 required per door)
