Post by: GrandMstRamRod on 12 January 2011, 15:05
basically the exaust is a 45mm inner and the back box i got is a 60mm inner even though it was said to be for mk3 obviously not mine

nice little picture basically i need a reducer and a bit of piping to fit it propperly as the new backbox is smaller than the standard one on the car at the moment, what is making me confuzed do i just need a 45mm to 60mm reducer being the inner diamiter or bigger!!

so far i got off ebay a reducer that i need the tell them the size and 200mm length of 45mm flexi pipe!

sounds like you've answered your own question to me.  You've measured the ID and figured that you need a reducer to this spec and source a bit of flexi to fill the gap.

Only problem I see that unless support either side of the flexi the system will be floppy.

thats what i though, what you mean about the flexi pipe its just as im going to be loosing 200mm for the new backbox im using that before the reducer so shouldent be to flexable, as it was only going to be a temp fix it see if the parts i orderd are correct before replacing it with propper piping!

you will loose the angle the exhaust comes out the back if you use a reducer...best option is to find a new downpipe and link pipe thats correct bore from cat back
