Since people think there is not enough tuning chat on here, Regal Motorsport are now selling the AWE K04 Kit for the GTI. There was a hold back with the kit for the Europe spec GTIs due to some slight differences but now its here. Test car made 315bhp with 340lb/ft with the kit plus GIAC software and only additional mod being 3" Turbo Back Exhaust. They seem confident that with an uprated intercooler and air intake can make in the region of 350bhp! fun fun fun times! Kit retails at £1750 without software!

That's a crazy amount of power for two front wheels to deal with. Before I got my GTI to took an RS Mountune MP350 out and the torque steer at 80mph in straight line in 5th gear was too much.
The RS was put to the bottom of the pile, test drives of other cars followed (R32, Edition 30, S3) and the GTI won

Right then, so who is gonna be the first to do it?

God its tempting, few guys on other forums have fitted the APR kit and it sounds insane!

That power through an R would be interesting but for everyday use that is far too much for a FWD car IMO!

Thats a lot of go for your dough

That actually sounds like good value for money. Where's our official guinea pig SteveP?
I kind of like the idea of it, but wouldn't use the car enough doing the right sort of driving to get any benefit from it. However if I end up keeping the car for some time, it's possibly the sort of thing I'd look at once the warranty gets near the end.
-
Has anyone done this yet?

Madness.
A simple remap is already getting to the limits of FWD.

Steve.... I know dash rattles can be annoying but...:laugh:
With regards to the kit, sounds great fun. And a lot cheaper than I expected.

Well I did a search and I was wondering if anyone had experience with any companies tuning. I am going to be going K04 soon and I am needing recommendations for a good company to get an ECU tune through.
-
For best results ide not bother with an actual tuning company. Ide get a map specific to your car, Pay a decent mapper to sit in the car whilst you blast about.
And the K04 kit aint as cheap as it sounds.
1) Turboback exhaust or decat £1000+ Unless you decat
2) The actual Turbo £1900
3) An uprated Intercooler £300+
4) Prolly need uprated injectors. £100
5) You will defo need a new set of brakes to be able to handle the power or your car will just be outright dangerous. Standard GTI breaks are rather pathetic. £1500 +
Prolly like a 4-5k bill right there

North American Motorsports FTW!! They did my K04 Reflash.
dont go wiith a UK tuner on a US car(nothing personal) they can have yer ECU back to you in 4 days.
