Ive seen alot of bad things about DSG reliability, But now i want to here about all the Good stuff! and all the people with no issue's!! Time for some DSG LOVE!
-
i loved the fact i could scratch balls and pick my nose whilst driving along
I was obviously using my knees to steer as always
-
I love DSGs and have never had a problem or issue with one.
The fact I've never owned one or even driven one is neither here nor there!

I drove the manual and loved the car, I drove the DSG and was hooked. Put you're foot down in 6th gear and it pops you into 3rd for instant fun.
Stick it in manual mode and the noise it makes makes you go back for more.
Love it, love it, love it.
-
I was hooked since my first drive in one which was a demo GTI DSG on loan to me when my '05 GTI was being fixed under warranty, on return to collect my gti I ordered an R32 DSG and ordered a DSG caddy to replace one of the works kangoo's.
I love modern auto's especially DSG's

If my left shoulder injury does not heal, I'll have to seriously consider an auto or DSG. End of the road for me it seems.
-
Or just the begining

Yes, good can come out of bad.

DSG is the single best feature of the car for me. A fantastic piece of engineering. Love it

I cannot and will not love something I don't know well enough.
Love can be a very exhausting emotion, and I don't feel DSG deserves this.
I have not loved just one thing in my long life which is the continuous one of getting old.
But what I love about this is the experience I have gained through all my trials and tribulations.
Here endith the sermon.
Amen.

Hate is bad, all consuming and very much against my own religion.
But.......
Love and hate go together so well
Were talking about a gearbox in a car not a living being
It's for fun although it doesn't seem like it now

Live life as you wish. It's your choice.
Nice R32, thank you

I really cannot comment one way or the other, I have always driven manual cars so am used to having a little stick to twiddle with, I've only driven automatics when on holiday in Canada (where I am now :smug:) and these are not DSG.
So I just went for a manual again because it is what I know and like, my worry was that if I bought a DSG car and didn't take to it or even like it then I was stuck up the creek without the proverbial paddle.
I don't therefore hate DSG cars I just love my manual to me it is like my cosy old armchair - solid and dependable, a bit like me too really.
Gizzy

Test drove a Mk5 GTi with DSG shortly before buying my manual Mk6. Yes, it was all very clever but it certainly didn't scream "buy me", especially at £1500 or whatever it costs. I've never owned an automatic in my life so I don't feel I am missing anything by not having it - I'd rather spend the money on an RNS or whatever.
As always, it's each to their own.

DSG - De-Skilled Gearshifts. One less thing for drivers to be good at.

The next topic of hot discussion will surely have to be: 'Love of Tractor Engines in Cars'.

Vicious scorpion.
Shame on you.
Anyway enough of this cat fighting.
I drove my car for the first time today, eleven days after my accident. It was a really painful experience changing gear. It is the one time when DSG would have been a real boon IMO.
Have you fallen of your chairs yet?

I have done prob around 20-30K now in a 2005 GTI since 2005 and to me it has too many niggles that it does not get right for me. Each to their own but its just not for me. We did not buy a SEAT Ibiza cupra because its only available in DSG.
-
I don't hate DSG, just prefer manual.
When was DSG introduced by the way, mk5 or earlier??
Did mk 1 - 4 have an Automatic version?? I don't remember earlier GTIs being available with Auto boxes but I could be wrong.

Sadly for you it's not something you can retrofit

Apparently VW are changing the name (for the mk 7) of the Auto box to DCG.
DCG LTCD for it's full name.
