Well, I decided that I would make the 110 mile trek to check it out, the missus stared the day well by ploughing into a kerb 400m from my house so we took my car!
The venue wasn't too bad, well suited to small car shows, but the whole thing seemed a little "air-cooled" oriented.
Still, enjoyed myself, and for those who voted for the steering wheel, there was no need, I didn't spend a penny!
Saw Goldie Looking Cab at their display, very nice motor, but I am not sure I'd of driven it up there. The stairs must have been awful on the suspension  Looked around the car park for more sticker but couldn't see any
What did you all think?
-
cudnt be botherd to drive that far. few peeps said it was sh!t last time so that kinda put me off
-
it was fun getting chris's car up there, we was gutted that we couldnt display all our cars so chris left his up there.
not alot there for us water cooled peeps, i spent more time talking to people and in the pub than buying things lol
-
Cheers mate ? I really enjoyed it.
Although Velly had booked a stand for Club GTI Newport and we had 8 cars to go on it. When we got to Dubfreeze there was barley room for 1 car ? I was the only brave (or stupid) enough to risk getting it up the ramp ? Got it over the top bit with some help off Velly (cheers mate ?) used wood blocks on the back wheels to get enough clearance, so no damage done ?
It was mainly air cooled, but there were still bargins to be found. I bought a rear and lower strut brace for ?20 ? ?

I arrived with jv in convoy at about 11am, met up with mrwotto at the goldie lookin cab, caught a glimpse of a couple of forum members but for the life of me couldnt remember their real names.. had a good nosey round at some rusty beetle panels and empi wheels, then decided to have a look round the carpark for some proper cars. But then we froze our bollox off so we went to the pub / Mc D's
Had to feel quite smug as me & jv effortlessly rolled out of the mudpark carpark with trusty 4wd as everyone else was putting packing under their tyres to get out of the marsh

I didn't see you all  Mr Wotto should have text me and we could have all gone for a pint  There were better cars outside, but like you said it was freezing out there. I took my MK5 radio control Golf for a spin out there. Got a few dogs and kids chasing after it

I asked a few people on the next stand if they knew whos car it was, they said they didnt, and never had your mobile number so could not text ya.
It was nice to meet jv and toph.
I have no problems getting out of the car park must be something to do with the weight of my mk3.
I did enjoy the show as I am very into the air cooled scene anyway so I enjoyed drooling at the beetle's / campers as well as the golfs.

The
Mudpark Carpark was fairly amusing!
I am amazed that some people don't know how to drive on mud! The was one guy in an Audi Quattro, he had got stuck at some point, but by the time I had passed him, he has floored it so much that all 4 wheels had dug in nicely, he wasn't driving anywhere!
Should have taken the Landy, could have charged ?5 a tow!

if anyone saw the bahn brenner lysholm charged 'raddo on design 90s I spent most of saturday evening cleaning that with the other Gareth. Hope it wasn't too dirty when it got there.

Never mind mate, We'll have to meet up at another show, there's plenty of them

fraid i was at the PH Virginia Water meeting yesterday. forget VWs for this one. a car park made up of Caterhams, TVRs, Ferraris, Porsche GT2/3s (inc 2 * RSGT3s), DB7 Zagato, Nobles, Elise+VXs, Bugatti EB101(!), Radical and few Ultimas and a whole lot more.
There was a loan Rallye perched on the end of our row looking severely out of place. The irony was that it was probably one of the rarer cars there!
-
a lot of driving for not a lot. really struggled to take enough pictures for an event review!
the car park mud was just comedy as was the queue to get out but hey, you have to go to the shows

Sounds a bit like utterly veedubberly in November, glad I saved the petrol.
-
I was going to go up with the boys, but instead had a nice lie-in and spent all day making looms
-
at least the main hall was heated at this one!
realised after seeing the sign on the way home that http://www.stanfordhallvw.co.uk will probably be on the hooj list of shows i go to this year
-
did wanna go. ended up at a wedding fair. Been told that it was more air cooled, so wasnt too fussed
-
it was my first vw show and it was pretty good, only problem was that it was more air cooled like you say,
i broke down on the way, my alternator totally went just b4 the stafford services and i managed to get it to the services,
swapped my battery with my mates and got to the show on his battery where i managed to pick an alternator up for a fiver, result!
fitted it and enjoyed the rest of the show
sorry to wotto for not meetin up
-
no probs sellers, will catch up with you at another show / meet
-
first time Ive ever been to vw show as i am new to this game, was a little disappointed in the lack of Mk2 goodies on sale but was pretty obvious this show caters more for the air cooled brigade!- never the less it was a good day out with some interesting stuff to see and the old Mk 2 didn't miss a beat on the 140 mile round trip. would definitely go next year and am looking forward to more shows this season.

Anyone got any pics of the event to post up?
I'm really looking forward to the Golf+ Castle Combe day in April
-
I went at the last minute but didnt see any golfgti.co.uk stickers and didnt really have the balls to go asking strangers if anyone from here was there. Seemed to be just old beetles and camper bits still a good day out though
