i have a kenwood w 3041 with an aux input in the front, plugged my mp3 in yesterday, and it was fine for a while, then the drivers front speaker crackled really loud, and then the sound went.Im pretty sure that the stereo is foobared, as it wont work at all now, im thinking that one of the sound tracks inside the unit has gone? any sugesstions.
also i have a vw gamma r/cass buried somewhere, does anyone know if it has the relevant connections at the back to run an ipod with?
cheers ed.

as far as i know you can run an iplod through a gamma HU....It uses the cd input although you cant controll the ipod through the gamma controlls..

The Gamma radios have wot u call MINI ISO inputs n outputs on teh back...or in lame terms...a block that splits in 3 small ones...most commonly in 3 different colors....blue, yellow and green. If i remember correctly, i believe the input of which the BLUE one goes into the radio is the line in or you can by a more expensive kit which would allow full ipod access via the gamma radio as previously stated. The idea is to confuse the gamma radio to think a cd changer is in place when in fact it is your ipod. of course it will probably stik to a single cd deck but u just shift between tracks on that level if that makes sense.
The kenwood usb inputs have been quite troublesome and mite have been the cause to what shorted out ur head unit. So unless its stil under warranty, theres not a lot you can do with it as repair costs these days are pretty much the same as a replacement radio.
