Title: Insurance claim compensation
Post by: iansabf on 10 January 2011, 21:24
Had a crash about 4 years ago and just got a text message the other day saying: 'Free msg; our records indicate you may be entitled to £3750 for the accident you had. To claim free reply CLAIM to this message. To opt out text STOP. Thank you.' the number was +44591257139. Has anyone had a text like this? Are they worth trying to follow up? Personally i think it'll be a waste of time but the money would be nice!

personally think its one of those marketing things were if you text back they reallise the phone is active and send loads of advertising messages and other crap. if you think your entitled to compensation ring up your insurance company or go to your local c.a.b and see what they have to say, personally if i was going to be making a claim ide be using a company with a reputation rather than a company that sends out texts on a random mobile number (bare in mind most companies number doesent come up when you get a text it says the companie name, i.e just got a text off halfords saying my online purchase has been sucessfull and in my inbox it comes up as "halfords" even though i havent got there number saved ect.)

You sure that's the right number? Sounds like a weird combination, and googling it doesn't return any results.

I get them every so often on my work phone and its always a different mobile number. It is always £3750 though.

Have never replied. Might do next time as its a work phone so they can spam it all they like. Gets switched off once I finish work.

I get these and I have changed my number since my accident. It's just a scam. Also I beliee and this may be corrected but if your insurance claim was settled in full then these no win no fee companies will not touch your claim anyway.

Might look into a possible claim although i wasn't really injured. The girl that hit me claimed whiplash even tho she was only doing approx 5 mph. At the end of the day she cost me alot of money for driving into me when i did nothing! What do you think no win no fee company? do you think this will affet my current insurance for no claims?

She claimed whiplash when she was at fault? And it cost you? How does that work?

I was stationary on her side of the road and she drove into me! she clipped my back wheel & arch, scuffed the arch and bent the stub axle slightly. It cost me because the insurance said it was 50-50 claim so i lost no claims discount which is pretty valuable when your young and insuring gti's.

i used to be an insurance negotiator... and well it's tricky with liability spilts if there are no independent witnesses. but if ever anyone wants any advice on any claim matter re liability issues and what to do etc etc im always happy to help... i dont claim to have all the answers but i have dealt with my fair share of accidents
