Title: Reliability Issues with re-mapped engine?
Post by: Jimmymature on 10 January 2011, 16:51
Hi all, I am considering getting my ECU re-mapped on my MK6, what is the general view of the impact of this increased power on the engine and other components?

I've heard people say putting more power through all the components can't be good for the car and other parts such as brakes.

Thanks in advance for the expert advice guys.

VAG engine are over engineered, if you "look after" the engine the you will have no issues at all.

Just spend an hour or so on google reading up and fill "yourself" with confidence. If you dont fully under stand remapping or your not confident then your never going to trust a remap and your never going to enjoy the car after its tuned.

If you screw it all of the time then it's bound to stress the engine and other components more.
It will also develop a drink problem.

If you just want a bit more fun and extra grunt when you need it then no problems.
