Title: New Interior trim
Post by: jcook6788 on 10 January 2011, 16:26
Hey guys,

anyone know  where to find interior trim for a half decent price?

Im looking for the:

drinks holder cover
left & right radio cage trim
climatronic surround
&diagnostic plug cover

Preferably all in black (maybe carbon :s) as I have black grab handles etc

I have the part numbers and just got off the phone with VW dealer the prices were ricockulous  Also looked on ebay but cant get all the parts I need in one colour.

Cheers

James

What did they quote you out of interest?

Drinks cover, diagnostic port and climatronic surround should be around £5 each

The side parts - what have you currently got fitted?  One option would be to spray them yourself

I have a brand new black drinks holder cover that you can have for £10 posted. PM me if interested.
To confirm it is just the front cover, not the complete holder assembly.

the side parts are the tricky thing. I have the wood effect.. but the left one is missing!

im going for around the £300 mark..

Pretty good guess!

The dealers wanted £87.60 for EACH side trim! £61 for the cup holder cover!!... I stopped him there, thanked him and got on with my work :)

I am interested but I need to see is I can get the side bits in black first otherwise I may go for a dif colour all together. Cheers though

I may have to go trudging round some breakers at the weekend

3M do vinyl, probably the best stuff in the industry to, they do they carbon effect vinyl as well, done the whole dash in my old civic looks spot on once you get it right! Very easy to use and very forgiving, no matter how bad you muck it up just reheat it back to shape and go again.

Net optic trim currently at £16. Just remember you will need to get the radio cage with the removable trim for the net optic to go on as well.

Thouroughlly degrease the surface before applying the vinyl, heat slightly to get the vinyl to wrap round curves, and to set the vinyl off completley it needs to be heated to 80 degrees (heatgun), after it has been heated to this temp it will set off and you wont be able to manipulate it any more. If you dont set it off it will slowly peel/shrink back to its orignial shape after a few weeks.

Wellll I ran out of vinyl due to the awkwardly shaped pieces! I can live with it black for time being.

Nah didnt do handles. I have them in black to and it looks alright.
