Hi guys i have the above hands free system in my golf, the thing is it doesnt allways come on...There is no pattern to it...I have changed the battery in the remote and that seemed to cure it so i thought but it has died again....The Parrot site is useless (no help at all)
Has anyone got any ideas at all....even daft ones considerd

i know it may sound stupid but can you put the serial number of the kit up as it may very well be a non uk approved kii can tell you as soon as i see the serial number
-
What age is the car it is has been installed in?
Quite a common thing is that if it is quite a new VW and has a quadlock connector (40pin iso) for audio intergration. then it will be more than likely that a wiring harnesses was used for an easy installation, these can sometimes be poorly made and once connected, the terminals can be pushed away from the pins causing an intermittant supply to the control unit - worth checking if so.
Also, if you're going to contact Parrot then ensure that the software on the Mki9200 and on the phone are the latest versions as manufacturers often unknowingly release these devices with bugs and this also often causes problems.
The parrot forums (through the official site) can be of help i have found, it has quite a few topics already discussd in detail, if you have the time to search that is.
hope this helps

I fit these kits almost every day at work and they are known for going wrong even brand new. Its usally the blue box that fails, also the power wires should match the car in, in terms of switched live and battery live, as some cars have these wired in reverse, meaning the kit doesnt always turn on or off! HTH!
-
Quick update guys....IT HAS STARTED WORKING AGAIN TODAY......May be it was it's time of the month lol
Never thought about checking the live feeds as it worked straight from the box, could that be why the radio does not switch off when the key is taken out of the ignition..???

yep thats it! the parrot has 2 fuses that can be easily swapped to correct it.
-
braderz have you got any pics of the fuses you talk about or are they easy to find...(they are not in the blue box are they.????)
or are they on the main harness..???

I got a Parrot system in my work van its constantly going wrong. Some of the issues when connected to my phone via bluetooth, no audio can be heard through my speakers but yet i can still be heard on the recievers end (yet the parrot and my phone are still connected)..only recently am i getting the same problem as what you are having there doesnt seem to be any power going to the parrot on the first part of my journeys then all of a sudden it decides to fire up, maybe i get lucky and and it stays powerd on for a while then it switches its self off again.
Another issue the menus sometimes have no audio either when flicking through them it drives me insane. But look on the bright side atleast you have audio lol
I can only think that mine just wasnt installed properly. Keep us up to date with how your getting on maybe i'll be able to sort my issues out with mine lol.
-
Will do bud...... So far all seems ok, but when it stops again going to get the meter out and check it all out..
-
Also got a parrot in mine, mine is the 3000Evo kit (i think) with no daft screen or anything, i had issues as i have external amps on my car audio, my mate who is a in car electrician did some stuff to the loom and added a relay, it now shuts down my stereo and amp when a call comes in and turns it all back on after, awesome bit of kit
-
Lol better send ur mate round to have a look at my van then. Its such a pain in the as$! Looks like im gonna have to fammen out how its all connected and see if there is any brakes in the wires etc wats causing my problems

I gt a Parrot ck3000 kit in my mk3. fitted myself...simple piece of kit and never gone wrong on me and its been a good 4 yrs since i had in. Cant complain. For those with amps, you will find it only mutes what runs as oem speaker outputs from the radio..however, if you'r running a none original head unit...then the YELLOW wire tha is loose on the parrot kit can be connected to the available MUTE input on most aftermarket radios to then MUTE the amp aswel or otherwise anything running from the low level outputs of the radio.
I know this will work however, i've been lazy and left mine how it was before I installed the amp n woofer etc...so wot i'm experiencing at the moment is everything mutes but the subwoofer in the boot..lol. but i got used to it even tho i no how to fix it.
Rite...regarding the Mki9000, Mki9100 and Mki9200, they all use the same brain housing...but they are all very much specific to the type of kit part number you have...e.g. if a brain goes wrong on a i9200...you CANNOT use a brain from an i9100 and vice versa.etc..
They are however a common cause to Parrot kit issues. As correctly asked by a previous comment, If it is a Mk5 golf or above, chances are you had to use wot they call an SOT lead (Sound On Top - SOT-976) to convert the oem harness which is the 40pin quadlock (square) to a means in which the parrot will understand (standard ISO). Same lead used for most new VW's and Audi's.
Even if it was an earlier golf, you will notice that because of the backwards power feeds i.e. permanent and switched live's, you will have to swap the in line fuse holders over that are on the Parrot kits harness (red to orange and orange to red). The idea is that IDEALLY you WANT the parrot kits with displays to say "goodbye" when shutting down. If you find that the kit just switches straight off upon vehicle shutdown, then that is an indicator that the power supplies to the kit are the wrong way around.
It has also come to my attension that sometimes where the wires have had to be tucked away behind the radio quite tightly, you can often experience stretching and pulling of the wires that have the fuse holders on the kits loom. this can temporarily knock a kit out and cause it to short out and crash.
Hope some of this information helps.
