Spooky I had looked at those wheels on Ebay, I don't understand what all the fitting sizes are I know my current wheels are 17 inch 7J 225/45, would an 18 inch 8J 225/40 fit no problem, would I need spacers or anything like that.

No you certainly don't need spacers, they'll fit just fine and fill the arches nicely

No, no spacers. Will fit perfectly. I am selling them for the reasons in the advert and because my Insurance Company are being real sh!ts. They've even got VW centre caps and are boxed! In perfect condition. Where do you live?
Andy, you are the wheel man. Liase for me and I'll give you a cut!

Is that because your insurance company has a clause that says no more that 1,000 modifications in a year

Just make sure the overall diameter of the wheel and tyre stays the same as the originals otherwise your speedo will be out.
i.e. if you going from 17" wheels to 18's the profile of the tyre will need to be 1" less than on the 17" wheels.

Specifically the 1'' less will be a 1'' bigger hole in the middle of the tyre, the outer circumfrence(sp) stays the same.

So 225.40.18 would be the right size type

Not sure if thats a question or an answer  Yes.

Yes, they will be perfect. You'll have no issues. The problem is getting them to the Northern Mountains!

Do not worry my friend. I'll get the tyre fitters to sort it out. I might have to give my body to them, but as I'm into rubber, I'm on to a good thing. See what a package you might be getting? Humour and rubber. Whips are extra!
CHAINS ARE FREE!

There is a company on ebay that specialise on transporting wheels. Cost depends on size wheel.
I can't for the life of me find it now but I'll keep looking.

Your looking for "Alloy wheel courier" in ebay.
http://tinyurl.com/22oyper
This is the one I was thinking about
http://tinyurl.com/2fq2774
£32.50 for 4 alloys and tyres to be delivered although it quotes 2 different prices!! Never used them though.
Here are few other couriers that are reasonably cheap or at least were. I haven't used them for a while.

I used these guys just before Xmas
http://www.directcouriersolutions.co.uk/
No problems at all, very efficient - farmed the job out to UPS and delivery next day as bought and paid for
-
I've used www.parcelmonkey.co.uk a couple of times and they've been great.
They use other couriers, but get you a better price than using them directly - plus you don't need a business account to use them. I've had citylink the last couple of times.

Thanks for all the info....... Now added with new tyres, any one guess the tyres? Here is before and after. There is no light here after 1pm and they were taken with the phone.

Yeah i know what you mean  it's the rust on the discs that winds me up! When you've spent ages cleaning and as soon as you move the rust off the disc gets all over the rims!!!
Are you on ukmkiv mate?

Cheers Andy.
I like 3 door cars the line tend to be a bit smoother IMHO. The Golf is one of the only 5 doors that really suit it, Look at the Astra, Megan yhr 3 are soooo much nicer. I did make a little mistake though as I ordered the car then my back started playing up and ny partners son anounced gran child on the way. Baby + 3 Door + Car seats + Bad back + Hitting 50 make a 5 door a better choice, Still Gonna keep it for at least 3 years

Paul,
You are up early admiring and polishing the weels!
They look super.
Never a late sleeper, If I was out side at 8am I'd need a full set of thermals well below freezing here again.......
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Which tyres have you bought? I could not guess.
Have you noticed any change in the ride and the handling?
