pondering with the idea of supercharging my abf but have a question or two,
will i be able to use the standard con rods and pistons?
and
what supercharger would be best to use?
im not looking to squeeze every last ounce of power out of it but would like a noticeable difference :)
-
there is a thread for it.
but to answer.
you can use standard ones yes. abf are pretty good internals up to about 250bhp (which really is enough)
just have to worry about compression... theres many ways people say about sorting this out... one way is two use two gaskets.
and best one is an eaton 65 (ifi remember right)
a smaller one like off the mini`s just doesnt give enough.
one off a merc you want.
i almost bought a kit the other week from germany. everything i needed bar the intercooler and ecu. which i did now! lol

thanks for the quick reply,
ive got my eye on a supercharger from an merc slk 230, doesnt say which supercharger it is but think its an eaton m62,
other than the charger, intercooler and pipework what other parts will i need?
im guessing ill be needing some new management also?

It's disputed whether or not stacking gaskets is good or not.
You can get thicker gaskets, but personally I think stacking gaskets is fine.
-
M62 is perfect mate, I'd always opt for a thicker head gasket, cometic do a very good mls gasket that would be worth looking into
-
Would be better to run uprated rod bolts, if your going to do then it would be better to switch to lower comp pistons, much safer than spacer plates and stacking gaskets.
-
Was thinking of changing the rod bolts and head bolts for the arp ones.
I've had a look at low comp pistons but there's so many to choose from

depends on your budget? JE and CP are top end, can't really do much better
, but there's plenty of good makes out there. What names are you looking at?
