Hi,
During the cold snap my Central locking on the drivers side seems to have picked up a fault.
Basically it will 8 times out of 10 lock the car centrally (boot driver and passenger locks) however it will not unlock them or indeed itself, although the key does turn both ways freely.
I have to unlock the car using the passenger door, this unlocks them all centrally.
So I assume it is local to the drivers door. It almost feels as if there is too little resistance, and i have to turn it a few times before it registers and locks the car.
Dodgy connections? Lock?
Thanks

To add detail when I turn the key to lock the when it doesn't work it does not make the whirring noise, to unlock it never makes that noise. Could it be a faulty connector?

Im going to hazzard a guess the door handle is damaged mate
i had the same issuse (or at least similar) on the lock mech their is a small bit that engages the rest of the mech, this part is on the handle and it snaps, im guessing the cold and the force u may have put on unlocking the car has snapped it, the bit that breaks is about a CM long and a few mm wide, id whip the handle off and check, and if you have or can get a spare handle try it, (you can easy swap out your lock into the new handle or get a handle off a rear door and go delocked route) either way i think u need a new handle or at least rob the bit off another handle.. but theirs 2 variations of handles and they are a little different to each other meaning the internal bits cant be interchanged... in that case u would have to swap the whole handle (again - u can still put your existing lock barrel in any easily)
hope that makes sense!

Ah I think I understand
But isn't it odd that it works intermittently with the locking the car, but not at all unlocking.
Is it easy to remove the handle?
Thanks

yeah its odd, it could be just damaged and not yet fully broken like mine did, the bit i mean is mad eof cast sh!tty metal, nickle plated colour (wish i could show u a pic)
its the bit that hooks to the mech fromthe handle
to remove handle is easy, their is 1 screw on the inner edge of the door, undo this and ease the handle out but dont yank, as this will deffo damage the bit im on about
