Title: How to remove old rocker cover studs?

Hi,

Just a quick one. I am replacing my cork rocker gasket with a new rubber one (the old cork one was leaking). New studs are supplied, since the cork gasket studs have shoulders on them preventing the rubber gasket from sitingt flush on the head. I was just wondering how I would actually go about removing the old studs, since there isn't really anything to grip onto to get them out? I tried some mole grips on the shoulder of one of the original studs, but this just resulted in denting the shoulder of the stud.

Any idea how I would go about removing them and fitting the new ones?

Put 2 nuts on one stud, lock them up with spanners, then they should unwind easy with a spanner, or Mole grips!

Just phoned my girlfriend's brother who does a lot of car restoration work and he told me the exact same thing. Tighten up two bolts on the stud with two spanners and then use the bottom one to losen the stud and the top one to tighten.

Would have never figured that out without someone telling me! Will give it a try tomorrow (been working on the car all day and my hands are freezing!).

Or use a stud extractor.
