Post by: droofer on 08 January 2011, 14:38

De-restricting your airbox would give it a couple more torques. but nothing crazy

Cold air ducting to the modded filter housing is supposed to work (not tried that though max power tested it and said it's good for a couple of bhp). If it has a cat you can rip the innerds out however this is illegal and you would need to replace it before the next mot

take the rear seats out, remove spare wheel etc. Weight removal would be the best free performance enhancer!

Sell the cone on eBay and buy a performance panel filter with the proceeds, then Swiss cheese the airbox.

As above sell the induction kit, fit a panel filter and cold air feed.

Worth looking at uprating the cam as well.

cheers guys, gonna look into a few of these suggestions, i havent got an induction kit as such, its just a cone filter, with no pipework, i might just drill the airbox for now.

cheap/free and effective do not co-exist

especially to make any significant improvement to a 1.8 8v, air box is the only thing worth doing tbh

And boring out the inlet/exhaust ports. You can also take the throttle body off and polish up and slightly bore out the inside of it. The smoother you get the inside of the castings, the quicker it can get air/fuel in!
