Title: What car to get next???
Post by: golf-sib on 06 January 2011, 20:55
Right, looking at keeping the car a similar size or maybe downsizing, would like to keep it vag which is why I'm keeping it in this section but I'm not sure what to get or is available for my spending bracket. Heres what I need:

£2500-3500,
Road tax not exceeding the £215 annual bracket
Possibly DERV due to MPG
Similar size to golf
Insurance not to exceed group 13 if possible
Air con
Cruise control (or ability to retro fit)
A slot for a double din
The lower mileage the better (but I do not know what good mileage is to a DERV, but want it to be reliable)

Thats my requirements more or less, was contemplating a 1.4TDI polo 6n2, but after owning two 6n polo's it seems disappointing to go back to them, but if registered before 2002 the 6n2 1.4TDI's are tempting as they fall into the £30 tax bracket, plus cheap as chips insurance. Not sure how the 1.4TDI engines are, as I know alot of people talk highly of the 1.9TDI's.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Ford Ka
Better to drive than any VW.

Thats an insult, my miss has one, hate the bloody things, had a chap that tipped it on its side, but more for him. Do like the street KA as I belive they have a wider wheel base but its not really ideal for longer journeys, nor do I think they came with CC as I know the lower specs did not even get a rev meter.

If you don't appreciate the sublime steering of a Ford Ka then you can't be much of a driver.

I could beat your car in a Ford Ka over a twisty road (like the TT course).  Lol

Think your giving to much credit to a KA, the micra is much better handling and more comfy than the KA, but I'd never buy either, fabia seems like a possibility

For that budget go for a Polo G40, I believe the tax is cheap and I can only see the value of them increasing.  I'm hoping to purchase one this year.
