have been on the site for a while now so thought i would get some feedback on my new project.
my car is an L reg mk3 1.4 ryder in classic red not the best but i see it as a good starting point it has seen better days but with a bit of TLC i hope to get her back to glory. i bought the car for 250 quid which i think was a bargain with a full years mot and 5 months tax. am trying to subtly do a few mods without spending too much.
anyways heres a few pics let me know what you think.

it had a bent up passenger side wing so set off to local scrappys for a replacement.

during:

and after:

while i was at the scrappy i saw a gti so decided to nab the smoked rear lights off of it

next to go was the horribble steel wheels picked up a set of tsw 5 spokes there not to everyones taste but i kinda like em
old steelies:

alloys:

next to go was the horrible beige interior so it was time to strip everything out of the old girl and took a trip to pillage a GTI for its interior

few pics of the new interior:

back seats:

front seats:

also fitted badgeless grill and smoked front indicators:

thats about it for now the car is off the road for the time being whilst i get it to the way i want it.
i decided to put a vento front end on it as really like the way the conversion looks.
my other plans are to lower it on coilovers n tidy up the paint work as there is quite a few rust bubbles and laquer peel on the paint.
any pointers or comments welcome
thanks

When i first saw the project i was just about to write a list of things to nab of the GTI but you already did it!
It's a nice base to build up your knowledge on before going for more power.
I'd lose the bumpers and replace them for colour coded items and get the grill sprayed red (If you keep it)
-
lol yeah local scrappy has always got at least 1 GTI in it so i just nab anything i can.
yea couldn't decide whether to get colour coded bumpers or try and restore the black ones so there nice and shiny?
-
You've done well there fella! 250 with a full ticket and some tax, nice one.
Good work so far on sorting it out, looks loads better.
-
looking good mate keep at it
-
Good work merty. Cant think it can be much slower than a mk3 gti, infact- its physically impossible
-
good car mate. vento front end will be spot on. keep up the good work
-
looking good (you need a gti/vr6 driverside headlight).
-
thanks for comments people.

Speaking from experience it's not worth the hassle, they stay black for about a week before they're grey again
You got an absolute bargain for £250, it would annoy the hell out of me having different headlights
Other than that i'd spray the bottom of the grill red and leave the rest black:

Looking good. :)

That vento front off a lad called Jim?
Looks good :afro:

as wayne says go with CL bumpers as its something 'differnt' as im pretty sure vw didnt make millions of CL mk3's with them on :undecided:
-
Dan its off jims vento but it was after he sold it. Pluss bonnet was in my garage
-
Not a fan of the Vento Front on a mk3 (always reminds me of a saxo???) but you've done a good job.

Ahhh makes sense, thought i recognised that sticker ;) did he sell the vento with the golf front i sold him? How come he got rid?
Dan
-
He did indeed sell it with golf front end. And he wanted a 316 coupe. I took my time to fit his coillies and everything.

Try finding a set then in good enough condition to use
Yes they may have made millions but with so many having been switched to colour matched bumpers means all black bumpers are getting harder to find.

I liked mine

thanks guys think i'll just stick with bumpers i've got at the min as they don't look too bad?
next step is to sort the rear brake out as they're grinding quit badly (wellt hinks its the brake?)
and then get it slammed.
