Title: Oil Leak! Yay
Post by: Gash on 05 January 2011, 23:44
yay i can post up a problem on here! haha
anyways the car has developed a slight oil leak, at first i thought it was the sump but when i looked under the bonnet it turns out that it seems to be coming from above the oil filter (see photo) hense it only being a small leak, i havent lost alot of oil but will be topping up.
wondering if anyone has come across this before
engine is a ABF.
i pulled the little rubber thing up a little and a little oil came out, i assume the leak is there as there is a gap (wouldnt know if it was there before or not)
any help at all.
am going to vw tomorrow anyways to get a relay so if i need to change anything can ask them a price.

That is a pressure sender I believe.

Strang it is leaking, maybe remove it and check that it is not cracked then clean and refit with ptfe tape around the threads..

As I said, just check it is not cracked and the threads are all ok.

Strange for it to leak unless it it loose maybe.

Common thong to leak. Cheap to replace. Metal joins plastic. Hello leak after a while.

As above - they normally go after a while, just make sure you get the right replacement as there are a few different options. Wrong one will set your buzzer off

true, it seems the frost broke my sender. was leak free until it hit > -10c.

It was probably brittle then the hot oil = leak time
