right im getting rid of the standed mani ive only ever fitted manifolds to fords how easy is it to do and whats the best mani to go for on a 8v the golf already has a magnex system on it, thanks
-
same boat mate, brought a hot tuning one off ebay but not fitted it yet, think you have to move the inlet manifold and loosen the engine mounts to get enough clearance
-
Interesting, I was also about to hit the "buy now" button, one on eBay ATM for £150 would be interested to see the quality of it.
The only thing that puts me off a 4-2-1 is the fact there is no flexi joint, and I can just see the hassle of tKi g the whole thing back off in 6months to have it rewelded....
Keep us posted on what you get up to with this

Standard manifold is not that restrictive to be honest.
A lot of the ebay ones are designed for lhd so will not fit rhd.
And no flexy joint means they tend to crack.
You need the car up on a ramp to chang it really.

As said the standard ones are OK, my aftermarket VR one had alot of metal sticking out on some of the welds on the inside i had to file down

I have a spare one unused I from hot tuning, pm if u are interested

The reason I'm considering it is that after 2x STD manifolds cracking I was looking to try out a 4-2-1, I do understand the original is not restrictive but it is common knowledge that they are prone to cracking.
There must be people on the forum who are running 4 branch's and haven't encountered problems, or am I living on cloud 9 ??
-
think the problem is not many people bother on the 8v, unfortunatly £150 is alot towards a vr, so they dont often get replaced with uprated ones!!
i have looked at them as i beleive mine is slightly blowing, but never really bothered about it :)

With no flexy joint you will have cracking issues on aftermarket manifolds, plain and simple.

Yep, it's what my sensible side is telling me, but, what if I got a 4-2-1 and had a flexi added ?? Then you would have a flexible 4 branch !
-
I had a flexi bit added when I had the sports cat fitted. It's been ok since
-
I need a flexi on mine. Its only cracked once since 1996 though so not bad really
