Post by: mk3aaron on 04 January 2011, 14:31
Ive got a wee straight diesel mk3 golf here that needs a gearbox and was wondering will the box from a tdi fit and also have been told that the box from a straight diesel seat inca van will fit is this true. Any help really appreciated. Thanks

tdi no good as its a cable shift box, to fit also need to change clutch, flywheel and fit cable shifter unit. then either fit hydro clutch bits from abf or tdi mk3, or use cable conversion kit from SEAT ABF.

Need D or TD MK3 box, not sure about the inca van but assume it uses 020 box same as yours. note that non-turbo MK3 uses 90mm flanges, so ditting TD box would require you fit 4stud 1.8-2.0 8v or 1.9 TD MK3 shafts. SEAT inca will use MK2 wishbones so those no good either.
