Title: WATER FLANGE

got a coolant leak coming from a water flange on the side of the cylinder head on my 8v gti.just want to know if its a common problem or just a case of changing it.cheers in advance :smiley:

Yeah common problem, they warp with age.
Should be just a case of undoing a couple of bolts and its off.
Make sure the new one has a new seal with it  :smiley:

Hi

I recently changed mine and the new one cracked when I did it up so do not tighten too much. I do not think it was an original one though. Also the casting where the seal sits was not flat so needed a smear of metal putty to fix. All in all was a right pain for what should have been a simple job.

Might be worth changing the seals around the sensors as these will be removed when you replace the flange.
