just bought a tdi 150 and whilst idling theres a continuous clunk which stops when the clutch is pressed, is the dmf knackered?
theres another noise coming from under the glovebox which doesnt stop?
-
Wobbly flywheel. How many miles has it got?
Could be the climate control HVAC unit it is behind the glovebox.

104k mate.

Yeah behind the glove box noise is probably motor for the fans which is stupidly made with a combination of plactic and metal so can easily break.
The noise when that goes away when you press the clutch isn't always the DMF as my clutch and flywheel were replaced at 57k now on 81k i've had the same sort of noise for the last 10k and I got told that it is most probably the release bearing IIRC, so best to get it properly checked out before you pay hundreds to get your DMF changed.
Always get it checked ut by a qualified mechanic before you start shelling out your hard earnt money. Here you'll get pointers as to what it may be.

104k mate.
On that bomb shell, it could well be the DMF but again get it looked at by a mechanic.
Or I got told that you can check for play in the DMF by looking at the DMF whilst it's spinning through the inspection hole which is in the gap between your engine and the battery, look all the way down and you will see a small hole about the size of a 2p and when the engine is running you may see play in the DMF so i've been told, don;t take my word for it it's what I got told

The hole i'm talking about may have a rubber plug in it which kinda looks like the stopper in a hot water bottle.
It just pulls out or most probably it won't be in there as they have a tendancy to drop out and go for a walk.
